“Vegas nightlife is epic but the food experience is so much better!” –Tahlee Mambia
I don’t really gamble, so most of my trips to Las Vegas have been a non-stop party, from one club to another. I’m in my early 30s and I just can’t party like I use to (“SMH”, I realize how ridiculous that may sound but it’s true, don’t judge me :). Now my idea of having a blast in Vegas is turning up at an amazing restaurant and turning down in my gorgeous hotel room! So that’s what I did on my most recent visit. (I mean I did hit the club once, it was insane, had a ball, Jermaine Dupree “ones & twos”, OMNIA nightclub!)
Of course Vegas is known for its “over the top” club experience, “jaw dropping” live shows and incredible shopping but Vegas also has many remarkable fine dining experiences. I had to stop by STK in the Cosmopolitan Hotel my first night, it’s a no-brainer. I always have a good time! The mixologist keep the drinks coming, the DJ keeps the place rocking and the Chef makes this ultra-chic steakhouse hard to compete with. The cuts of meat are beautiful, plentiful and flavorful and the side dishes come family style so please share! (The brussel sprouts and mac & cheese are my favorites) This steakhouse is super sexy, “this ain’t outback”.
Mr. Chow’s, located in Cesar’s Palace was like walking into a dream. The restaurant is stunning and the cuisine allows you to experience Beijing right here in the US. The specialty cocktails are made with the freshest ingredients and a selection of premium champagne from the infamous MR. CHOW champagne trolley will keep you wanting more. You never know who you may run into while you are there. We actually bumped into Matt Damon and his crew while we were there! Next time you are in Vegas, make a reservation.
The most impressive culinary experience was in the Venetian at Yard Bird! At first sight, I would not expect the food to be that good but I was wrong. I ate there two days in a row and had four very different dishes that were equally delectable. The “Low + Slow Smoked Chicken Salad was my favorite! It comes layered. First you have the house –made buttermilk ranch dressing lightly coating the plate, and then there is fried cornbread topped with avocado, the flavorful slow smoked shredded chicken and fried capers. Amazing!!!!!! The entire menu is mouthwatering! Chef Melvin Johnson, You da bomb (Look him up, he was on “Cut Throat Kitchen”!)
So I won big in Vegas this time! I had several amazing culinary experiences! I have a new love for “Sin City”! Been to Vegas lately, what were your favorite dining experiences? Let me know…
Enjoy the Journey,
