Who be brunchin’? We be brunchin’, I be brunchin, my whole crew be brunchin’!!! So I know that was a bit corny, but hey that’s me and it’s the truth. Brunch is by far one of my favorite past times since moving to the DMV. I believe I have made that pretty clear in several of my previous post. Three things you are sure to find in DC are, 1) happy hour 2) day parties and 3) brunch. I have my brunch crew in Chicago (The Besties), a crew or two in DC, and then I’ll just make up a crew wherever I go. However, DC might as well be the brunch capitol of the US. There is always a brunch happening anywhere and everywhere.
My brunch crew and I tend to brunch Saturday and/or Sunday, almost every weekend in the summer and maybe every other weekend in the winter. For me it’s the ultimate way to “get loose” and fellowship with a Mimosa in one hand and a Bellini in the other.
Here are my “Top 5 Favs” Brunches:
This brunch buffet averages about $35 per person with bottomless mimosas. If you want to go rouge you can order off the main menu of course. One reason I like this spot is because they usually have a dope DJ spinning while you eat. Good music and good food go hand-in-hand, “boppin while you eat” is always a good sign. And make sure to check out the décor, everything is centered on the legacy Abe Lincoln, even the floor! It’s made out of pennies.
Its location is ideal, a block away from the White House and just a few steps away from the historic “W” hotel, perfect! It’s not a bottomless situation; however the food is delicious! Your classic breakfast/ lunch items turned into artistic creations. I feel like a dignitary or DC insider when I dine here. Maybe it’s the décor; it has the “old money”, aristocratic feel to it. But it’s not pretentious at all. On a given day you can experience live bands pumpin’!
OMG! Amaaaazing! Everyone goes for the buffet, so that means you need to go for the buffet. It’s known that when you leave this iconic DC restaurant, you will have a full stomach and a “to-go” bag. Their “low country cuisine” will excite every taste bud! The place is buzzing with patrons and the FOOD is “fantabulous”, southern cuisine! You will have received life after eating here. They have Saturday and Sunday brunch at $42 per adult. Accompanied by jazz on Sunday it’s always packed so make a reservation or be prepared to wait but it’s worth the experience.
This is probably my favorite brunch locale in DC because it’s in the heart of Georgetown (which reminds me of our Hyde Park in the Chi for some reason) and sits right off of the Potomac so you have a picturesque back drop of the water and DC. This brunch buffet is about $55 person and has just about everything you can think of and YES, bottomless mimosa! Very important! The awesome thing is that you can scoot on over to the Graham hotel for drinks on their rooftop and gorgeous aerial views of the city!
All You Can Eat Brunch –$30, Mimosas for 1¢! I get excited by this place because it feels like pure chaos when you are there! They bring the food so fast and it’s always a large group of us, so there is food EVERYWHERE!!!! I mean EVERYWHERE! (I’m crackin’ up just thinking about it) My head tends to spin while I’m there because it’s just so much going on but I LOVE IT!!! My favorites are NUTELLA WAFFLE with walnuts, Nutella, bananas and cream, YUM!!! And, the SPICY LAMB BENEDICT with poached egg, however, I don’t eat eggs so I just take that off and devour the lamb. Okay I’m getting hungry and I think I have given you enough info to trust me. Make a reservation and try it out, they have both Capitol Hill and Arlington, VA locations.
So those are my favs! If you are in DC, hit me up and we will brunch! What are some of yours? Where and Why?
Enjoy the Journey,
