Ahhhhh, the 90’s…. The era when Bad Boy and Death Row ruled the airwaves. When R&B had jams from SWV, Boyz II Men, Shai, 702, Montell Jordan and TLC. When fingerwaves were hella fly and high top fades were dope. When voicemails on cell phones started off with your favorite jam that slowly faded to a “What’s up… You reached Nikki you know what to do after the beep.” When if someone called you a hoochie you’d be ready to slap on some vaseline and throw down. The time when Tommy Hilfiger was mad cool along with Iceberg, Fila, Jodeci Boots, Karl Kani, Parasuco Jeans, spray painted anything, jewelry with your name on it, 32 scrunchies on little ass ponytails - need I go on?
The 90’s are back! Fashion has a funny way of making what was once old, new again. Baggy clothes were here for the slay, grunge was killing the game, biking shorts were on fleek, and logos were on EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE. So since the 90’s are back you wanna dust off that Pelle Pelle and get it popping, right? Don’t. Let’s avoid looking like a #TBT by adding some modern flair to the 90’s trend. Keep your silhouettes in 2016. Limit overly baggy clothes to keep your look current and sprinkle in some 90’s love. To give my outfit a kiss of the 90’s I opted for a graphic tee, a choker, and hoop earrings. I kept it current by sticking with skinny jeans, on trend heels, and a killer red lip.
What do you think? Are you into the 90’s trend? Or should it say in the 90’s?
